NEWCASTLE Vipers have linked up with Macmillan Cancer Support to present ‘Pink in the Rink’ on February 26.
The Vipers will be playing Dundee Stars in a crucial Elite League game (7pm face-off at Hillheads, Whitley Bay) with the players wearing unique pink jerseys.
‘Pink in the Rink’ is an established theme for hockey games, particularly in North America, and the club is working with Macmillan to raise awareness and publicise the fight against cancer.
Macmillan are the Vipers chosen charity partner this season, and earlier in the campaign the club held their very own event as part of Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’.
Now the ‘Pink in the Rink’ is their biggest charity event to date.
Fans are encouraged to wear as much pink as possible on the night, while representatives from Macmillan will be in attendance at the game and will perform the pre-game puck drop.
Macmillan will also be collecting at the game and Vipers officials are hoping supporters will give generously.
The Pink in the Rink jerseys are now available for purchase on a first come, first served basis and each has a minimum price – if buyers want to pay more they can do so.
Revenue from the sale will go towards supporting Macmillan Cancer Support and the Vipers Community Foundation.
Tickets for the game are available from the club in advance on (0191) 477 0841 or online at vipershockey.co.uk/shop
