Taekwon-do students have been flying the flag for Whitley Bay in competitions in Scotland and Ireland.

High-kicking youngsters from the Reflex school of Taekwon-Do struck several gold, silver and bronze medals in three national tournaments in the space of just two months.

Reflex coach Brett Stronach was delighted with the performances of his students who excelled in the Irish National Taekwon-do Association competition, the ITF Scottish Championships and the MSBA Scottish Open championships.

He said: “We are very proud of all our students and particularly those who have the determination to take part in these national competitions.

“The students have worked extremely hard to get to the level they are and their technical ability is demonstrated by their success!

“A big well done to all concerned and a huge thank you to all the parents and guardians who support their children in attending these events.”

The next competitions all the students have been invited to are The Gathering in Scotland in June, and the ITF England Championships in July 2014.

Both are prestigious competitions featuring world class competitors.
