Collingwood Tennis Club’s girls 14 and under team face a play-off with Sunderland Tennis Centre after beating Cullercoats last weekend.

Mia Wallace won a tough No.2 singles in straight sets and combined with Jasmine Hacioglu in a 10-8 doubles defeat.

Laura Day and Anna Winship won their singles and then Collingwood also took the final doubles to close out a 4-2 win to top the Northeast Winter League.

The one-off game with Sunderland has the incentive of free Wimbledon tickets for the winners.

Collingwood’s boys team also had a good win at the weekend.

Captain Olly Drake won his singles 4-0, 4-0 then partnered Sam Allonby to take their doubles, as did Tom Ridley and Gabe Allonby, winning both doubles and singles in straight sets for a 6-0 victory.

The win leaves Collingwood second behind Beverly Park.
