The final of the Northumberland Table Tennis knock-out handicapped cup was held last week at Cramlington Sporting Club.
YMCA North Tyneside A Team, of the premier division, came out eventual winners after defeating Cramlington Cobras, of division two, 5-4.
It was a closely contested match with nearly every one of the nine singles games needing a final deciding set.
The YMCA team of Nigel Rodgers, Paul Baines, and Andrew Dryden had to work hard for every point against Alan Hedley, Duncan Wraight and John Morton.
With two games to go, Cobras were leading 4-3. Two victories from Dryden and the final end from Rodgers, who won all his three matches, swung the nail biting final match in the YMCA’s favour.
