HOLYSTONE Primary School are celebrating after winning the Whitley Bay Barbarians Trophy.

The Year 5/6 Festival was held at Whitehouse Primary School.

Holystone were undefeated in the pool stages, then overcoming a tiring Whitehouse outfit in the final 22-4.

This game was the culmination of an afternoon of rugby league, enjoyed by spectators, players and officials alike.

The standard played by the children was remarkable and a common feature of all the teams was their collective work in defence.

This was clearly the case as Holystone 1 and Holystone 4 fought out a scoreless draw in their quarter-final.

In the circumstances it was doubly to the credit of the two Year 5 teams who reached the final.
