A TEENAGER has been impressing coaches at a judo club after earning the top grade possible for his age and picking up a club award.

Robert Stuart, 15, joined Wallsend’s Bushido Judo Kwai in Apri 2005 and his attendance since joining has been exemplary.

Robert has worked his way through the grading system and in July this year was awarded the highest junior grade possible – a green belt with three black bars.

Club officials said during this time he has shown courtesy to his instructors and other members.

The club’s junior members compete for a monthly trophy and Robert has won this more times than anyone else this year.

And recently instructor Maureen Carnaby, 4th Dan, presented Robert with the club’s judoka of the year award 2011, at a presentation held at Burnside Community College in Wallsend.
