A solid second half display saw Whitley Bay men’s hockey 1st XI comfortably see off Manchester based side, Timperley HC 4-1 at the Parks on Saturday.
The Tynesiders dominated the early exchanges and Jonathan Stoddart opened the scoring for Whitley, but Rory Maddocks equalised for the opposition.
Alex Flynn was then on hand to grab his first goal of the seasonas Bay took a 2-1 lead into the break.
Whitley Bay raised the tempo of the game in the second half and their possession started to pay off as gaps appeared in the tired Timperley defence.
Chris Traynor put the game out of site, at 4-1, with two more goals to add to his already impressive tally for the season.
Whitley Bay’s final game of the season will be away to Bowdon HC next Saturday as they aim to finish the season on a high.
