SUNDERLAND'S Dwight Yorke looks set to end his playing career with Sunderland after a potential move to Australia fell through.

Yorke had been hoping to sign for Australia A-League side Central Coast Mariners only for a potential deal with the to fall through.

The 36-year-old spent the 2005-06 season with Sydney FC.

"I felt this year would have been the year to come back and stamp my authority in terms of playing football and getting the football buzzing around Sydney again," he said.

"My last conversation (with the Mariners) was, 'yeah, we'll get it sorted'.

"We looked at a figure that was reasonable for them, it wasn't great for me but I was prepared to come for that."
