DWIGHT Yorke has signed a new one-year contract with Sunderland.
Manager Roy Keane said: " Yorkie's experience on and off the pitch was invaluable last season.
"He's a great character to have in the dressing room and around the training ground and he'll have a part to play for us next season."
Speaking about his new deal Yorke added: "It's been a tremendous two years for me at Sunderland.
"I've got to know the staff and the fans have been great towards me.
"In the end it was a straightforward decision. I had one or two things to think about and I knew needed to make a decision.
"Once the manager gave me the thumbs up, it was an easy decision to sign."
Yorke signed from Australian side Sydney on transfer deadline day in August 2007 and has played 54 games, scoring six goals.
A potential move back to Australia did not materialise and the former Manchester United and Aston Villa favourite opted to have another shot in the Premier League.
