Budding writer is short-listed for top award

A YOUNG author has been short-listed for one of the most prestigious national prizes for writers under 30.

Matthew Crow is in the running for the top prize of £30,000 if his latest book My Dearest Jonah wins in the University of Wales Dylan Thomas Prize 2012.

The 24-year-old, of North Shields, is up against authors from across the globe, including the United States, Zimbabwe, Nigeria and Canada.

The book tells of the correspondence between pen pals Verity and Jonah, who has recently been released from prison, and the relationship that develops between them.
