SINGERS are invited to join in the festive spirit with a world-record attempt for the largest number of simultaneous carol singers across multiple locations.

WAVES (We Are Very Enthusiastic Singers), based at Cullercoats Methodist Church, will take part in the event at 7pm on Sunday as part of a special event being run by Premier Christian Radio.

They will be singing five carols – Silent Night, O Come All Ye Faithful, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Away in a Manger, and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.

Anyone wishing to take part is asked to gather at the Broadway church at 6.45pm and sign in to be part of the record attempt.

Refreshments, hot dogs and mince pies will be served in the main hall afterwards.

The current record, from last year, stands at 18,114 carol singers singing five classic carols in unison – beating the previous record of 14,100.
