Poets from across the region will be taking part in a special celebration this weekend.
Whitley Bay’s regular night for poets, Free as a Bard, will be given a season twist on Sunday at the Jam Jar Cinema.
Seven poets will each do a brief reading, followed by a live music set.
David Bateman, Andy Croft, Harry Gallagher, Eileen Jones, Kirsten Luckins, Ellen Phethean and Scott Tyrrel have all read at Free as a Bard in the last two years.
They will be followed by a set by Dylan Mortimer.
And a special cake will be made by Sue Pethybridge for the occasion, with slices sold in aid of the homeless.
The event starts at 8pm.
Tickets are £5 and can be ordered online at www.jamjarcinema.com or direct from the Jam Jar Cinema in Park Avenue, opposite the Park View shopping centre. Booking is essential.
