A LOCAL singer songwriter will be hitting all the right notes in a musical celebrating 30 years of the Metro.
Anna Leigh, from Cullercoats, landed a solo part in the show which marks the 30th anniversary of Tyne and Wear transport system, after auditioning at Newcastle’s Eldon Gardens in November last year.
Commissioned by the BBC, Metro: The Musical will feature a host of north east folk telling their train-related stories to music, and it will be beamed into the region’s homes on Thursday, March 24.
The 21-year-old, who works part-time as a lifeguard at Tynemouth Pool, said: “It has been a great experience and it’s been really well organised.
“I think it’s a brilliant idea because everyone knows about the Metro.
“It’s fun and something positive for the area.”
Anna, who released her first album, Story Book, last year, is currently performing at venues across the region.
She is also working as a singing teacher at schools in North Tyneside.
