Art imitating life for work rep David

FACT and fantasy will be coming together for trades’ unionist David Rawlings when he treads the boards next month.

David, from Margaret Road, Whitley Bay, will take to the stage to play the part of trades’ unionist Reg in West End Operatic Society’s performance of The Full Monty at The Journal Tyne Theatre from Monday, April 11, to Saturday April 16.

In real life David, who works within the NHS, is a work place representative and lifetime supporter of the trades’ union movement.

David said: “When I was young my father was himself a union steward.

“I remember as a kid being allowed to write my name on the front of my very own junior subscription card, which I carried with pride.”

David will be joined on stage by Kevin Rhodes, from Killingworth, who plays the role of Malcolm MacGregor an unemployed mill worker who is part of the Full Monty gang.
