An aquarium will be shining the spotlight on real stars of the sea.

Tynemouth’s Blue Reef Aquarium is celebrating the real life heroes and heroines of the marine world as part of their ‘Star-Fish’ May Bank Holiday event from May 23 to May 31.

Visitors can meet living characters from films like ‘Finding Nemo’, ‘Shark Tale’ and ‘Little Mermaid’ and learn all about the true stories behind their fictional namesakes.

There will be special talks, encounters and a prize quiz trail with one lucky winner receiving a family trip to Vue Cinema in Cramlington.

Spot Bubbles, Dory, Nemo, and Bloat the blowfish, plus Sebastian from ‘Little Mermaid’, Mister Sykes and Crazy Joe from ‘Shark Tale.’

Every tank which features one of the characters will have a gold star and signage providing information and fun facts.

There will be daily ‘Peaches and Patrick Rockpool Encounters’ with a chance to learn more about Peaches from the tank gang in ‘Finding Nemo’, and Patrick from Bikini Bottom in ‘SpongeBob Squarepants’, as well as their friends Sebastian from ‘the little mermaid’, and Crazy Joe from ‘Shark Tale’.

Chris Gledhill, manager at Vue Cinema, Cramlington, said: “We’re very happy to be working with the Blue Reef Aquarium, I think it’s an awesome attraction and I want to come along and have a go at the trail myself.”
