WHITLEY Bay's Ian Chandler has been named Northern League Manager of the Year at the league's annual presentation dinner.
Despite strong competition from Newcastle Benfield and Horden CW, who both won league and league cup honours, Whitley's boss took the award in recognition of leading the club to FA Vase glory at Wembley.
Chandler, who was presented with an inscribed silver salver, has now received the manager of the year award twice, the previous occasion being two years ago when Whitley were Northern League champions.
Whitley collected two other awards at the dinner, for good conduct and fair play.
Paul Chow and Leon Ryan were shortlisted for the BBC Newcastle Player of the Year award, while Craig McFarlane narrowly missed out on the Young Player of the Year award.
Earlier in the week, Whitley were named BBC Newcastle Non League Team of the Year.
