WHITLEY BAY Football Club begin their preparations for the new season on Saturday when they meet Unibond First Division side Newcastle Blue Star at Hillheads Park.
They follow up this game with a visit to Conference North neighbours Blyth Spartans on Tuesday evening and an even shorter journey on Friday, July 18, when they take on Northern League Second Division North Shields at Ralph Gardner Park.

Several more friendlies have been arranged ahead of the new season which begins on Saturday, August 9.

Almost all of last season's successful team have been retained while Darren Timmons returns to strengthen the defence after spending a year in Australia.

Former captain and defender Leon Ryan has also rejoined the club having spent the last two seasons at Durham City and Sunderland Nissan.
