WHITLEY Bay's FA Vase winning squad were given a rapturous reception on the St James' Park pitch at half time of Monday night's Newcastle v Middlesbrough game.
The players, management and staff were presented to the Toon Army with the FA Vase trophy they won at Wembley on Sunday.

And the Premier League fans in the ground showed their appreciation for the blue and whites success at a time when high profile football in the region is struggling.

The players were part of a double presentation and followed out the triple-trophy winning Newcastle Eagles basketball team.

Bay's David Coulson was interviewed by the pitchside announcer.

And the Whitley skipper concluded the interview with a prediction of the Tyne-Tees derby, which was 1-1 at the interval, "3-1 to the Toon" was his belief.

And the rest, as they say, is history ...
