THE Northern League fixture list for next season has just been released and Whitley Bay will start the new campaign with two home games.
They begin the 2008-09 season at home to Tow Law Town on Saturday, August 9, then the following Tuesday evening, August 12, newly promoted Ryton visit Hillheads for the first time in a competitive game.

Whitley's first away game is scheduled for S
aturday, August 16, at Seaham Red Star, but that match is likely to be postponed as it is the day when most Northern League teams begin their FA Cup campaign, the draw for which will not be made for several weeks.

The following Wednesday, August 20, sees Whitley make the short journey to Bedlington for what is always a keenly anticipated local derby.

Another intriguing fixture is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, when Whitley welcome another of the promoted sides, South Shields, to Hillheads.

The Mariners attracted the biggest crowds in the second division last season, so with Whitley topping the first division attendance table, a bumper gate can be expected.

As usual, the Christmas and Easter games see local derby matches against West Allotment Celtic, with the home game on Saturday, December 27, and the return fixture on Good Friday.

Details of Whitley's pre-season friendly games will be announced shortly.
