JUST a week into the new season the FA Cup gets under way on Saturday with Whitley Bay one of more than 400 teams taking part in the Extra Preliminary Round.
Whitley Bay are hoping for greater success than last year when they went out at this stage by the only goal at home to Dunston.

This year, Whitley travel to North Yorkshire to face fellow Northern League side Northallerton Town.

Last season Whitley won 3-2 at Northallerton in a league game that saw Lee Kerr score his 100th goal for the club.

Victory this weekend would earn the club £750 in prize money along with another away tie in the next round.

If the game ends in a draw, the replay will take place at Hillheads on the Tuesday evening, otherwise Whitley will travel to Bedlington on Wednesday for a Northern League derby game against their local rivals.

That game is also dependent on the Terriers not having a cup replay.
