Here was the obvious horror of what has occurred to the town and the erosion of family activities and suitable venues.
The credit crunch is affecting the party-goers and revellers so what else can the town offer now?
We hear all the political t
alk and minimum action.
So many residents and visitors appear despondent. Their trust needs to be gained.
Where is the imagination and drive to succeed with this venture?
The council's chief executive stated Brighton was what it would be comparable to after the regeneration. Is that so?
I visit Brighton regularly. Is Whitley Bay to follow Brighton's lead and provide a thriving market, promenade eateries, beach boutiques, gay venues, facilities for people from a diverse cultural background, and kids themed fun parks? I think not.
I have seen the regeneration plans. Brighton has a rich mix of heritage and beachside cool.
Whitley Bay is stale, drab and lost and I do not believe the decision-makers have the imagination or resources to revive it.
I hope I am wrong but let's see.
