MY wife and I recently went for a walk at the Wallsend Rising Sun Country Park and we were both disgusted at the amount of dog muck on the paths.
I don't blame the dogs, it's the owners who are responsible for the vile mess their dogs leave behind.

One owner had actually let their dog do its business at the entrance to the visitors centre.

I ask you, what kind of dog owner would leave the heap of dog's muck in an area where children run and play?

Surely it is time to take action to stop irresponsible dog owners from using the country park, make all dog owners pay to walk their dogs in the park and with the revenue raised employ dog wardens to patrol the country park and heavily fine, on the spot, those dog owners who are caught not cleaning up their dog's mess.

At a time of great emphasis being placed on health and safety issues those responsible for managing the country park would be absolutely justified in taking a hard line attitude against irresponsible dog owners.
