I WOULD like to take the opportunity through your letters page to encourage your readers to nominate members of the public to receive a Chairman's Commendation Award.
Throughout the borough of North Tyneside there are hundreds of people who happily give up their free time to help within their community.

The Chairman's Commendation Awards were introduced to show appreciation to those individuals.

The scheme
is designed to recognise those who give unselfishly to others in terms of their kindness, time and effort, and have made an outstanding contribution to their local community and/or individual resident(s) through all kinds of volunteering.

The scheme is not a competition; all nominations that the panel judge to be deserving of an award will be successful in receiving a commendation.

The next round of awards will be assessed on Wednesday, August 20, and
I would like to encourage members of the public to nominate anyone they believe is deserving of recognition for their years of voluntary service.

Nomination forms can be obtained from Carol Soppitt in the chairman's office on 643 5347, or from the Quadrant or Town Hall reception on 643 5991 or 200 6565.

COUN IAN MACAULAY
Chairman of North
Tyneside Council,
Civic Office,
Quadrant,
The Silverlink North,
Cobalt Business Park,
North Tyneside,
NE27 0BY

All correspondence should be e-mailed to Your Say
It should also include a full name, address and daytime telephone number
