Appreciation to the Northern Area Sea Cadet Corps Band that was part of the evening entertainment and to Fenwick Departmental Store and personalities who provided the raffle prizes.
The evening was most successful, and raised £500 for The Gurkha W
elfare Trust, a registered charity established in 1969 for the relief of poverty stricken Gurkhas and their dependants.
As part of the Gurkha Welfare Fund it enjoys the patronage of HRH the Prince of Wales.
The trust remit is to provide financial, medical and community aid to alleviate hardship and distress among Gurkhas and their families when they leave the British Army.
For nearly 200 years, the Gurkhas have fought our wars and helped keep our peace. Today, they continue to do so. Famed for their courage and loyalty, Gurkhas have been awarded a remarkable 13 Victoria Crosses.
