Why our town cannot attract business

ON the subject of our somewhat struggling town centre, and the concerns expressed by Alan Moses, I would say that while some people are happy to walk to shop, and some take the bus or train, the vast majority prefer the convenience and flexibility of taking the car, hence the absolute necessity of present day shopping to be equipped with lots of easy to use customer car parking.
Whitley Bay's needs are no different, and the fact that the shopping area is seriously deficient in this respect is why it is unable to attract the business its surrounding area suggests it could, and is now fast losing out to its much better equipped competitors.

If it matters to enough people how can this be put right?
