Formica launches design competition
Budding art and design students are being invited to submit entries to a European competition.
Formica Group, manufacturer of interior surfacing solutions, has launched a furniture design competition with students able to submit their concepts.
Bosses are challenging design students across Europe to create a forward thinking and attractive piece of furniture incorporating Formica laminate to help ‘create a better life’.
The competition focus is to develop furniture concepts which will help to change people’s relationship with the spaces that define them.
Participants can choose their setting for the product, either be suited to home living, such as a kitchen or living/dining room or a public space including hotels, shops, offices, a hospital or a school and use Formica laminate.
Entrants will be challenged to look differently at the interpretation of the application of laminate for interior use, while specifying versatile decorative surfacing solutions offered by their collections.
The jury panel will consist of Matthew Day Jackson plus Formica Group design experts Renee Hytry Derrington, and Eva Hoernisch.
Entrants are asked to submit their designs on the competition website, www.formica.com (search for Formations), or via email to [email protected] before April 17.
The overall winner will receive an iPad Pro and see a fabricated version of their design in Formica Group promotional material. There will also be shopping vouchers for the top three entries.
