Bench bequeathed to Whitley Bay primary school by late Rotarian
A bench has been installed for children at a Whitley Bay primary school, in memory of a former Rotary Club president and councillor.
Members of Whitley Bay Rotary Club made a presentation to Marine Park First School, Whitley Bay, in honour of late past president Alan Furness.
Mr Furness had bequeathed a sum of money to provide a bench for the children.
The club’s current president, Rod Clark, attended, with fellow Rotarians and Coun Judith Wallace. Tom Furnace and Alan’s wife Edith officially cut the ribbon, and Marine Park School choir sang.
Mr Furniss died in 2017, a year in which he had been selected as candidate for the role of elected Mayor.
