That’s the message from proud head teacher Steve Wilson.

He said: “After all the media speculation nobody should be in any doubt that these results are an accurate reflection of what these Year 11 and Year 13 students would have achieved had they sat their exams.

"They highlight the hard work of our students alongside our incredibly committed staff who are determined to support students to achieve their personal best grades.

"What is particularly pleasing is students of all abilities, including those with special educational needs, have achieved fantastic results. Students and their families should be proud of these results – our students absolutely deserve this success”.

"There are countless stories of success in a set of results that match the hard work and resilience of the school’s students."

Student Lily Sharp was delighted with her GCSEs. She said: “I’m really pleased with my results.

“I wasn’t expecting to get what I did and I was quite anxious at first, but now I’m really relieved.”

Many students have reflected on the support provided by the school on the run up to exams.

GCSE Student Emma Telford was grateful for the support she received. She said: “When I struggled during the run up to mocks the school made sure I had someone to talk to whenever I needed and introduced me to classes and sessions that taught me multiple revision techniques.”

At A Level, Brad Young achieved an A* and two As. He said: “It’s far from what I imagined my final year in Sixth form to be like, but I feel proud nonetheless that my teachers have recognised my efforts over the past years with these grades.

"Unique as we forever will be, I feel it’s important for us all to remember that it’s the way we have all come together as a collective body of students to maintain solidarity is what we should all be proud about.

"Many of my teachers at WBHS have been the best I have ever had. Their passion and enthusiasm for education is evident, and I will look back on many fond memories from various different classes. Wherever I go in life I never will forget Whitley Bay High School.”
