Folk group to headline cross-Tyne music event

A music festival is coming to North Tyneside this August, headlined by a four-piece folk band.

Bridie Jackson and The Arbour will join more than 30 acts including The Lake Poets, Shields, Boy Jumps Ship, Liliput, Railway Club, Grandfather Birds and Sam Fender.

The Bernicia Festival 2014 will take place over Saturday, August 30, and Sunday, August 31, on both sides of Tyneside for a weekend of free live music.

Bernicia will take place in the Spanish City Plaza in Whitley Bay and outside The Customs House in South Shields.

Hyde and Beast will headline on the Saturday, with Bridie Jackson and The Arbour headlining on the Sunday.

Festival co-ordinator Emma Howe said: “We are very proud to announce our line-up for Bernicia Festival 2014.

“It’s a spectacularly strong local line-up with the addition of some brilliant emerging bands from around the UK.

“Working with our amazing partners has allowed the festival to grow organically.

“Last year was fabulous and with the festival now being over two days and the support from new and existing partners, we really can’t wait to build on what we achieved last year.”
