A photographer from the borough will show his first major exhibition that follows 14 members of a fellwalking group as they complete the Hadrian’s Challenge.
Newcastle College student Daniel Rogers, from Whitley Bay, is showing his work, which documents the 25-mile walk about the Roman Emperor’s wall, capturing the emotion of the participants on the day, in Newcastle City Library’s Berwick Hall from 10am until 4pm on Saturday, January 11.
“The main reason for photographing the Hadrian’s challenge event was because it was a bit of a different event for the walking club involved than normal,” he said.
“I wanted to use the event to capture the social ethos of community groups.”
The photography on display at Saturday’s exhibit includes some beautiful landscapes capturing the breath-taking scenery of Northumberland.
A complementation of portraits ranges from two female walkers laughing as they enjoy bacon sandwiches at a refreshment stop to a man receiving first aid for a blister.
“I feel the images I chose really told the story that I was trying to tell, they portrayed all the different elements of the day,” he added.
