THE second of the season’s print competitions at Whitley Bay Photographic Society was a red letter evening for Tom Dyer.
Judged by Don Bennett, of the Durham Society, Tom was awarded second and third in the monochrome competition and second and fourth in the colour print section.
Taking one place in such a hotly contested competition is recognised as excellent, but four in one evening is an unusual achievement.
The club class mono competition places were shared between Bob Collington, first and fourth, and Peter Craig.
The outstanding picture awarded first place this year was ‘Me and my boy’ by Richard Narcross.
Andrew Nicholl and Alan Porrett took the fourth and fifth places.
There was an extra large entry in the colour print sections.
The club section winner was again Bob Collington, with Peter Craig second, Brian Loan third and fourth, and Joyce Tunnard fifth.
The advanced colour print section was won by Anne Swearman for a ‘Sweet Pea and Hoverfly’, third place went to Andrew Nicholl, and Alan Porrett fifth.
There were several highly commended places for Jeff Evans, Richard Narcross, Pat Porrett and Andrew Nicholl.
Recently members enjoyed images from the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain’s National Cup competition.
The society enter each year and images from several Whitley Bay members were included in the DVD.
