A NORTH Shields-based charity is making waves with the launch of its new identity.
Ocean Youth Trust North has officially changed its name as it launches an assertive new campaign to make young people throughout the region aware of the sail training opportunities available to them.
The only sail training charity based in the north east, OYT North has traditionally provided development programmes for people throughout the entire UK.
The charity said its programmes challenge participants to open their minds, learn new skills, make the most of their potential and focus on creating positive futures.
With the change of name to OYT North, the charity is keen to reflect the fact that anyone can access its life-changing self-development programmes, not just those based in the north east.
General manager Steve Lennon said: “As an organisation we’ve been Ocean Youth Trust North East for over ten years, so it has been a big decision to change the name.
“However, despite the difficulties faced by many in the charitable sector just now, we have continued against all odds to grow and expand our service, and our new identity reflects our ambition to continuing reaching out to young people throughout the UK.”
OYT North specialises in the personal and social development of young people through the medium of ‘Adventure under Sail’.
It offers safe but exhilarating residential experiences to young people, helping them to discover more about the world and themselves while learning new skills.
