A beauty therapist has set up the first private training academy and beauty salon in Whitley Bay.
Amber Button, who has practised for 28 years, received help from North Tyneside Council’s The Business Factory to set up Button Beauty and Button Beauty Academy.
The mum-of-three decided to set up her own beauty salon to provide top of the range treatments in a luxurious setting while running her own private training academy.
Amber, who taught at a college for the past decade, said: “Having taught for the past ten years, I became increasingly aware of a need for specialist, accredited training courses that could be completed around work.
“As a fast-pace industry, beauty therapists have to keep up with the latest trends and treatments and often completing accredited training programmes can mean going back to college or travelling a long distance, both of which involve a great deal of time away from the salon.
“Button Beauty Academy will offer a range of bespoke, specialist courses at times that can fit in around busy work schedules.
“The beauty salon will operate independently of the academy, staffed by experienced professionals.”
She added: “I’ve had this business idea in my head for quite some time now so had a pretty clear vision of what I wanted to create but it was good to me able to chat through plans with the Business Factory advisor to ensure I was on the right track.
“Sometimes all you need is reassurance from an independent party that what you are looking to create is a viable business option.”
Coun Bruce Pickard, deputy mayor at North Tyneside Council added: “The Business Factory is delighted to be able to support individuals like Amber who have a wealth of experience in their field and want to translate this in to their own business.
“Button Beauty will provide a valuable service to support other businesses in the sector which in turn will help those businesses to grow.”
