A GAMES Maker from North Shields who is part of a special choir formed during the London 2012 Olympics, is making a bid for the Christmas number one single.
The all-volunteer group, who worked at the Olympic Park during the Games, has teamed up with singer songwriter Alistair Griffin to record a new song – I Wish For You The World.
Andrea Gilbertson is a member of the singing group and is now hoping they can take the coveted top slot in the festive singles chart.
She said: “We recently signed to Decca, the label behind last year’s Christmas number one, and we have the backing of gold medal winning Olympians and Paralympians.
“We pulled together to help put on the Olympics and the choir is our way of keeping the Olympic legacy and spirit going.”
I Wish for You the World – released on Sunday, will be a charity record with proceeds being donated to the British Olympic Foundation and British Paralympic Association to be used to develop and create opportunities for aspiring young people in pursuit of obtaining their Olympic and Paralympic dreams.
The idea and the sentiment of the song is about giving something back and keeping the Olympic spirit alive for all.
