There have been celebrations for a busy Whitley Bay cafe.
Eden’s Cafe held a special event to mark two years since it opened in Park View.
Owners Janice and Rob Eden-Bagley were joined by Mayor Norma Redfearn and customers for discounts and a special cake.
The pair moved to the area two years ago, with the cafe proving to be an incredible success.
As well as a warm welcome, customers can also enjoy some mouth-watering sweet creations made by Rob, a highly experienced patisserie chef.
Rob said: “Our second year in business has been a really busy one.
“We love running a business in Whitley Bay. The town, and Park View in particular, is such an exciting place to be at the moment.
“The sense of community amongst the businesses and shops in Whitley Bay is outstanding and our customer base just keeps growing and growing.
“We couldn’t do what we do without our customers so we wanted to invite them to help us celebrate our second birthday.
“We’ve had loads of people through the door to wish us a happy birthday and we’re really excited about our plans for the year to come.”
Rob, part of Whitley Bay Chamber of Trade, added: “The town is really thriving and being a member of the chamber enables us to keep in touch with what other retailers and businesses are doing in the local area.
“We can all work together on special events and occasions and lend some weight to projects.”
He added: “We’ve taken the decision to try to eradicate plastic from our everyday business.
“We’ve said no to the single-use straw and have started offering our customers degradable straws instead.
“This is just one small step, with more planned, but caring for our environment is an important part of our ethos so we’re happy to do as much as we can to support our local area.”
