Appeal after man is stabbed in North Tyneside

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 29-year-old man was stabbed in North Tyneside.

Officers were called to an address on Marine Avenue in Whitley Bay on Thursday, August 13, at 10.16pm where they found a man had a serious stab wound to his stomach.

He was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary where is he still receiving treatment, his condition is described as stable.

Police carried out enquiries in the area and two men aged 37, and 59, have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent, they remain in custody.

Officers are appealing for witnesses, anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police.

Whitley Bay Neighbourhood Inspector Jon May said: “We have Neighbourhood Police officers from Whitley Bay Police Station patrolling the area who are available to speak to residents and local businesses about any concerns they may have.”
