A Whitley Bay teenager suffered facial injuries after being assaulted outside of Newcastle Central Station.

Officers from the British Transport Police are appealing for help to identify a man who may have information about the assault.

The incident took place just after 3.30am on Sunday, January 21, in the short stay car park outside the station.

The victim, an 18-year-old man from Whitley Bay, was punched in the face as he walked through the car park. His attacker ran off in the direction of the Centre of Life.

Pc Matthew Rogers said: “The victim’s nose was dislocated and sustained a cut to his nose. He has been referred to hospital to see a specialist to have it reset.

“We are investigating whether the assault was linked to a previous altercation which took place outside the Digital Nightclub.

“We are now releasing CCTV images of a man who we would like to speak to in connection with the incident. I’d urge anyone who recognises him please get in touch.”
