Police are appealing for help in tracing a man following a theft on a Metro train.

The theft happened on Thursday, May 28, between 6.45pm and 7.08pm as the train was approaching Manors station in Newcastle, travelling from Tynemouth.

A passenger had put his brown satchel bag beside him on the seat as he travelled towards Newcastle, when he got to Manors he found his bag had been stolen.

Police investigating the theft have released a CCTV image of a man they need to speak to who it’s believed may be able to help with their enquiries.

Anyone who recognises the man in the image is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference 944 28/05/15 or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
