Apprentice Andrew is top trainer

An apprentice has set the pace for the region after being named the north's top personal trainer.

Andrew Pearson, who studies at TyneMet College, Wallsend, battled through to claim the title in the AOC Regional Fitness Competition.

The 21-year-old, who has secured employment with Active Northumberland, said: “Participating in the AOC regionals was really exciting and a truly enjoyable experience.

“It was a very professional atmosphere and I felt prepared for the competition because of my coaching experiences within my apprenticeship at Active Northumberland.”

After studying a Level 3 sports development apprenticeship, Andrew, of Seghill, completed a Level 2 certificate in fitness instruction and a Level 3 in personal training, all with TyneMet.
