Tynemouth’s Blue Reef Aquarium is inviting mums to join them for a special day of activities.

Visitors on Sunday will be able to discover more about the marine world and learn about it’s amazing parents.

Blue Reef’s Mark Sand said: “There are many fascinating parents in the marine world, with some behaviour which may seem odd to us.

“To celebrate Mother’s Day we are showcasing some of the parents with some brilliant talks and activities.”

Children are able to create a special marine Mother’s day card at the craft table for their mum to take home.

There are 12 daily activities taking place, ranging from twice-daily seal talks and demonstrations at the aquarium’s outdoor Seal Cove, to close encounters with everything from miniature monkeys, and piranhas in the Amazon Talks and Feeds.

There will be special workshops in the native encounter zone with opportunities to get close up and personal, handling sturdy rockpool inhabitants, under expert supervision.

All mothers who visit the aquarium with their child will receive a free standard hot drink to finish off their visit.
