Are you smarter than a seahorse?

Youngsters are being invited to test their skills against some superstars of the animal kingdom.

Tynemouth’s Blue Reef Aquarium is offering visitors the chance to to take part in a series of free science-based activities and talks as part of British Science Week.

Youngsters can follow a trail around the attraction and compare their abilities to those of a range of creatures including otters, sharks and seahorses.

Blue Reef’s Rosie Wiggin said: “We’ve set up a series of challenges to test our skills against those of some of our animals. Visitors will be able to see if they can beat them and learn about the scientific reasons behind our animals’ behaviours.

This week, until Saturday, there will be 10 daily talks, feeds, demonstrations, workshops and other activities taking place, including seal and otter feeds as well as rockpool encounters and Amazon talks and feeds.
