Police investigating a robbery in North Tyneside this week have made an arrest.

It happened at 10.43pm on Wednesday, September 30, when an offender entered the One Stop shop, Seatonville Road in Whitley Bay, and demanded money from staff before making off with cash.

Officers investigating have arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of robbery.

Detective Inspector Dave English said: “At 7.20pm last night, Thursday, October 1, a 38-year-old man was arrested.

“He remains in custody where he is assisting with enquiries. Anyone who may have information to help is asked to contact police.”

Enquiries into the robbery are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference 1289 30/09/15.
