ENTRIES are being sought for an ever increasingly popular road race.
Application forms are now available for the North Tyneside 10K Road Race, which is once again being organised by the council.
It will take place on Easter Sunday (March 31) next year, starting at The Parks Sports Centre in North Shields, taking in the Fish Quay, Tynemouth Priory and Castle before finishing at St Mary’s Lighthouse in Whitley Bay.
Previous entrants have come from all over the UK and Europe.
Organisers have set a strict limit of 2,200 participants for the 2013 event.
Last year’s race was won by Ethiopian-born Tadele Geremew Mulugeta, who finished in 30mins 48secs. The first female was former Elswick Harrier Justina Heslop in 33mins 56secs.
Coun George Westwater, cabinet member for community and regulatory services, said: “The 2013 race will see the ninth annual event and we expect to once again see a fantastic response from individuals and running clubs from throughout the UK.”
Entry costs £15 for a UK Athletics Club member or £17 for a non-club member.
Everyone taking part will receive a goody bag at the end, with prizes on offer for individuals and teams, while participants must be aged over 15.
Entry forms are available from local sports centres, libraries and tourist information centres.

The 6.2-mile run is organised in partnership with Start Fitness and North Shields Polytechnic, and is sponsored by TyneMet College and Northern Pure.
