Jeremy Ambrose, left, of Entrepreneurial Spark, with Carl Haagensen.

After leaving university Carl Haagensen, from Whitley Bay, set up a photographic inventory business for rental properties, but after developing contacts with landlords he moved into managing and refurbishing properties, leading to his own lettings agency.

Following changes to regulations he decided to leave the business, joining NatWest and the Royal Bank for Scotland.

And now he has been appointed entrepreneur development manager in Newcastle. He will also be involved with an Entrepreneurial Spark programme.

“It is a superb opportunity for budding entrepreneurs,” he said.
