ANIMAL lovers went batty at a special night-time event as they were given a chance to see a nocturnal animal.
Visitors to the Rising Sun Country Park, in Benton, were treated to a bat walk through the green oasis – aided by some modern technology.
For the first time at the park, Keith Fenwick, of Newcastle-based Advanced LED Technology, provided infrared lighting and cameras to view the bats.
His family regularly visit the park, and he was delighted to support the event arranged by North Tyneside Council while taking the opportunity to test out some of the infrared equipment at the visitor attraction.
Fiona Greenwold, the council’s education officer at the park, said: “We are always looking for something different to add to our programme of events in our parks and allotments, and we jumped at the chance of taking up Keith’s offer.
“Normally we are impressed enough using bat detectors to hear the bats, but to actually see them too was a fantastic addition to our event.”
Bat expert Tina Wiffen was also on hand on the night to talk to visitors about the creatures.
