A best-selling author is heading to Wallsend to meet her fans next week.
Suspense and intrigue will be the order of the day at the event with Elly Griffiths.
The London-born crime writer will give a talk about her new novel, The Chalk Pit, which is the latest in a popular mystery series following the exploits of forensic archaeologist, Dr Ruth Galloway.
The dark and gripping tale begins with the discovery of bones in tunnels beneath the streets of Norwich, and develops into a labyrinthine mystery.
Elly won the prestigious CWA Dagger in the Library prize in 2016 – an award which goes to writers whose work is particularly admired by library users.
She said: “Winning the Dagger in the Library was one of the best moments of my writing career. I wouldn’t have become a writer without libraries.”
The event will take place at Wallsend Customer First Centre, on Thursday, March 30, from 2.30pm. Elly will talk and answer questions about her book and career.
Copies of her books will be available to buy and Elly will be signing copies. Booking is essential and tickets are £2 in advance at any library or by calling 0191 643 2075.
