FORMER Newcastle United defender Robbie Elliott’s charity bike ride is getting it’s own music single.
Bike for Bobby, which sees Robbie and friend Phil Gray, cycle across Europe to some of Sir Bobby Robson’s former clubs, will raise funds for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and with less than six weeks to go until Robbie embarks on his 3,500-mile charity cycle ride across Europe - one of the North East’s most successful rock bands is lending its support.
The Quireboys - who played at St James’s Park with the Rolling Stones a year before Robbie made his first team debut - have sold millions of records worldwide.
This summer they played the Download Festival in front of more than 90,000 fans and supported Guns N Roses in Europe and now the Quireboys’ Newcastle-born lead singer and Magpies fanatic Spike is penning the official Bike For Bobby song on behalf of Robbie.
