A North Shields man has had his first book published which looks at his viewpoint of the world while coping with mental illness.
Darryl John released Two Worlds, The Real One and Mine at the end of May.
He decided to write the book first and foremost as a form of therapy, helping him to put down thoughts flying around in his head, especially during manic phases.
Such phases can last for three weeks at a time – a constant high where Darryl has no off switch and doesn’t sleep.
Then comes the lows, which can be intense and depressed. Add in the anxiety disorder and there is a rollercoaster of emotions that take some dealing with.
Initially the book was written for himself, but Darryl soon realised that it could help others with similar issues and bring them into the open.
From the start of the book, Darryl makes no apologies for the graphic images used.
It’s a collection of rhymes that are sometimes brutally honest on controversial subject matters.
His thought provoking, and often controversial work, gives a snapshot into his world – his fears, personal issues and his day-to-day life.
Two Worlds, Real and Mine has been published by Austin Macauley and is available to buy now.
