For the 17th successive year, North Tyneside Building Control Team has been awarded quality assurance accreditation following an external audit by certification body Exova BM TRADA.

The building control service is delivered on behalf of North Tyneside Council by Capita as part of a technical services partnership.

The team’s role includes ensuring building work is compliant with building regulations legislation as well as safeguarding the health and safety of people around buildings.

It is the only local authority regulatory service that operates in direct competition with the private sector.

Quality assurance accreditation is designed to give potential customers the confidence that the team has streamlined systems and processes in place.

Capita’s building control manager Mick Clarkson said: “I’m delighted that we continue to be recognised for the quality of our work.

“We constantly review our policies and procedures to ensure that we’re providing the best service that we possibly can.

“A lot of hard work goes into retaining quality assurance accreditation – the achievement is a great testament to the knowledge and dedication of the team.”
