Burglar attacks resident in her own home

A home owner was injured after being confronted by a burglar.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the burglary which happened at 9pm on Sunday, February 5, at an address in Auburn Court in Willington Quay.

A sneak-in burglar entered the address via an unlocked front door and walked into the hall where he confronted the female resident and scratched her face.

He then left the premises empty handed when disturbed by a dog barking.

The offender is described as a white man approximately 30-years-old.

Neighbourhood Inspector Mark Storey said: “This was a most upsetting incident for the resident and we are appealing for help from the public to find the person responsible.

“We have extra officers in the area to conduct enquiries and to reassure residents.”

Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious, is asked to contact police.
